ASEACCU Secretariat Delegation Visits Host Universities of the 32nd ASEACCU Annual Conference in Yogyakarta, the island of Java, Indonesia

The delegation of the ASEACCU Secretariat, led by Dr Teresa Loong, Chair of the ASEACCU Steering Committee and Vice-Rector for Student Life at the University of Saint Joseph Macao (USJ), conducted a courtesy visit on January 20 and 21, 2026, to the host universities of the upcoming 32nd ASEACCU Annual Conference: Universitas Sanata Dharma (USD) and Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY), located in Yogyakarta, on the island of Java, Indonesia.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by representatives of both institutions, including the Rectors: Albertus Bagus Laksana, S.J., S.S., PhD of USD and Dr G. Sri Nurhartanto, SH., LLM. of UAJY. Also present were the Vice Rectors and senior officers: Dr Caecilia Tutyandari, Vice Rector for Collaboration and Alumni Affairs of USD; Ir. Yosef Daryanto, Vice Rector for Student, Alumni, and Partnership Affairs of UAJY; Yurisdixta Menavia, S.S., Head of the International Office at USD; Surya Adi Pramana, S.I.P., M.Si., Head of Students, Alumni & Campus Ministry Office at UAJY, Drs. Ign. Agus Putranto, M.Si., Office of Partnership and Promotion at UAJY and the Albertus Agung Sanjaya, S.Pd., Secretary of Vice Rector Collaboration and Alumni Affairs at USD.

On behalf of the ASEACCU Executive Secretary, Rev’d Prof. Stephen Morgan, Dr Loong conveyed her dedication to ensuring another successful Annual Conference. She reaffirmed USJ Macao’s commitment to supporting the event and to co-creating, together with delegates from member institutions, a meaningful gathering that fosters cultural and academic exchange in Yogyakarta.

Reflecting on this year’s Conference theme, “Education, Hope, and Human Flourishing: Fostering Intercultural Encounter and Dialogue”, representatives of both host universities expressed their hope that, beyond continuing the rich traditions of the ASEACCU Annual Conference, the event will highlight the perspectives and insights of younger generations in fostering intercultural encounter and dialogue. They emphasised the importance of engaging with current challenges and reaffirming the mission of Catholic higher education institutions in today’s world.

The 32nd ASEACCU Annual Conference will take place from 19 – 21 August 2026 in Yogyakarta, the island of Java, Indonesia, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and friends of the ASEACCU community for this significant occasion of dialogue, collaboration, and intercultural exchange.
